When collective bargaining began earlier this year in Hickory Hills, Public Works employees at the city set out to win higher raises and end the sick leave and vacation time tiers.

With the newly ratified Collective Bargaining Agreement, they won:

  • 13.5% in guaranteed raises over 4 years
  • Two extra sick days per year for all employees
  • A maximum of 25 vacation days per year, up from 20
  • An extra $100 in uniform allowance
  • Double time for working any holidays and Easter Sunday
  • An additional $0.75 per hour increase for Electrician and Mechanic Trainees

“This contract is a major improvement, and it puts us in a good position moving forward,” said Brendan Berry, Heavy Equipment Operator and bargaining committee member.
