Kirby Custodians Score Big on Raises and Benefits in New Contract

Kirby SD 140

The custodians at Kirby School District #140 have much to celebrate in their new five-year contract. With 24% in raises, a new paid holiday, and the ability to cash out unused vacation time.

“Our members are working hard every day. This new contract gives the custodians the respect they deserve for keeping schools clean and safe,” said Dian Palmer, President of SEIU Local 73.

The new contract also ensures the district will follow the Illinois Family Bereavement Leave Act, air conditioning will remain on into the evening during summer season, and union bulletin boards will be posted at all worksites.
