We’re Putting Families First!
On Saturday, July 26, SEIU members in every corner of the country will rose up with one clear message: Our families come first. Not billionaires. Not ICE. Not corporate thieves.
Congress passed a nearly $4.5 trillion theft—gutting Medicaid, SNAP, child care, education, FEMA, and climate protections, while handing billions to the ultra-wealthy and polluters. The harm is already hitting Black, brown, immigrant, and working-class families—and it’s about to get worse.
But we’re not waiting for the collapse to fight back. We’re standing up now—to protect each other and to stop the harm before it becomes irreversible.
We organized actions in all 50 states—marches, rallies, caravans, hospital actions, and blockades—that make the cost of this theft visible and show the power of our union.
In Chicago, members turned out in force at Union Park to call out billionaires like Valor Equity CEO Antonio Gracias.
“The MAGA regime blocked $7 billion in federal funds for our schools. They are cutting the Department of Education’s workforce by half. These reckless actions attack our members’ seniority—that is, their years of hard-earned service and deep expertise—in the Chicago Public Schools and countless other districts. These cruel cuts directly harm the students we are committed to serving. And why? All so billionaires like Antonio Gracias—who shamelessly who want to gut our Social Security and get rich detaining immigrants—can pocket even more tax breaks,” said Dian Palmer, President of SEIU Local 73. “We have a clear and unwavering message for Antonio and his billionaire buddy Elon Musk. We are standing up. We are fighting back. We will not let you steal our social security and gut education funding! We’re putting families first. It’s time for the billionaires to go!”
