Labor Board Certifies UI Health Advanced Practice Providers
The Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (IELRB) has certified our bargaining unit for advanced practice providers (APPs). Physician assistants, APRNs, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse specialists who are employed by UIC and practice at UI Health facilities can now move ahead with negotiating a collective bargaining agreement.
“As a registered nurse, I understand firsthand the challenges these workers face to provide essential care for their patients. We are proud to represent APPs at UI Health,” said Dian Palmer, President of SEIU Local 73. “We welcome these essential workers into the Local 73 family, joining more than 4,000 Local 73 represented workers in the University of Illinois system.”
“As nurse practitioners in urgent care, we are on the front lines every day, and we deserve a voice in decisions that affect our working conditions and patient care. Unionizing would give us the power to advocate for better support, fair compensation, and improved resources to help us do our jobs more effectively,” said Caroline Rodriguez, nurse practitioner at Miles Square Health Center (MSHC) Urgent Care.
