St. Clair County Housing Authority Workers Gain Increased Wages and Benefits in New Contract

The service and specialist workers who keep St. Clair County Housing Authority (SCCHA) functioning have gained several new wage increases and benefits in their new two-year contract. In addition to a $1/hour cost of living adjustment, workers have also gained anniversary merit increases of 1-3%, and their boot allowance was increased to $150.
SCCHA workers also celebrated the retirement of Steward Tony Burns who has worked there for 40+ years and was a steward for 15+ years. He will be missed and we wish him well in his retirement.
SCCHA administers public housing communities and provides housing to low and middle income seniors and families.
“Our members are serving some of the most vulnerable people in St. Clair County,” said Joseph Richert, Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU Local 73. “Unfortunately, Trump’s billionaire bailout bill is threatening to cut 43% of HUD’s Rental Assistance which would drastically impact the services and programs our members provide for retirees and individuals with disabilities.”
