From what it means to be part of a union to what inspires their actions, we shine a light on the people who make our Local as unique as it is.

Juanita Ervin, Health Advocate at Stroger Hospital, balances being a union leader, full-time employee, and full-time student pursuing a Bachelors in Economics. She rejoined SEIU Local 73 after seeing the democratic changes in the union. She joined the Contract Action Team during the negotiations with Cook County, playing a pivotal role during the historic 18-day strike last Summer.

We spoke with Juanita about the challenges she faces at work, what motivated her to pursue higher education and her favorite hobbies. Watch below:
