Last week we had another successful #KeepYourWordWednesday!
In addition to showing our union strength, we brought our fight to the Board of Trustees through:
- Flooding Trustees with emails calling on them to ensure UIC moves immediately to fully execute the raises and retroactive pay.
- Standing with UIC employees in GEO, United Faculty, and INA to deliver a petition with hundreds of signatures to the Board of Trustees.
- Members speaking during the Board of Trustees meeting on why UIC needs to keep their promise to protect, respect and pay their staff.

UIC has agreed to meet with our union every week for regular updates on contract implementation, specifically raises and retro pay. UIC is applying the raises one job title at a time, and they decided the order. We will be posting updates on our new webpage for UIC members in addition to emailing them out to you all.
The most urgent task this week is to ensure all hourly shift differentials are being applied correctly. Please review the differentials for your contract and shift and confirm your hourly shift differential has been correctly applied. If your differential is incorrect, email email@example.com.
Technical (view Technical contract here)
All Technical staff should have received their Year 1 and Year 2 raise by Jan. 20. If your raise has not been correctly applied, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Since UIC completed the raises for Technical, they have now begun working on calculating the retro pay for Year 1 but have not provided a target date for when retro pay will be available.Shift Differentials
All Technical hourly shift differentials are in effect. The evening, weekend, and night differentials for the Technical contract are $0.50 more than they were previously. Additionally, the Charge pay is $2.00 an hour and the Preceptor pay is $1.00 an hour.
Clerical (view Clerical contract here)
All Clerical staff should receive their Year 1 and Year 2 raises by Feb. 3. UIC has not provided a target date for when retro pay will be available.Shift Differentials
All Clerical hourly shift differentials are in effect, The differentials for the Clerical contract are $0.50 for Weekends, $0.50 for Evenings, and $0.75 for Nights.

UIC has not provided a target date for raises or retro pay for Service staff, but have assured Service will be applied immediately after the Clerical contract.
All Service hourly shift differentials are in effect. The differentials for the Service contract are $0.50 for Weekends, $0.50 for Evenings, $0.75 for Nights, and $0.50 for service staff who work in the hospital and the clinics.

UIC maintains that their target for applying the raises will be March, but they have not provided a target date for the retro pay. The reason that the professionals raises are taking longer is because the market analysis is happening before the raises are applied. The professional job titles at the satellite campuses are under the market review now, and the Chicago job titles will be next with the goal of being completed by the end of February.
