CPS Members Ramp Up Pressure with Back to School Pickets – [Click for dates & resource guide]

SEIU Local 73 CPS members have been working without a contract for well over a year. In that time they have been negotiating for a fair contract that can bring greater investments to CPS workers and schools.

This is what they’re fighting for:

• Lifting the lowest paid workers out of poverty, including Bus Aides making as little as $16,000 yearly salaries.

• Increased resources and training for Special Education Classroom Assistants and Custodians.

• The removal of Sodexo and Aramark as management companies so Custodians can receive proper supplies and are more fairly supervised in house.

• Increased training and staffing for Security Officers to properly monitor school grounds.

CPS management and our Mayor have offered no solutions to the problems at our schools and  have left workers no choice but to get louder. This is why we are picketing together with the CTU and our elected officials.
