Cary Public Works Maintenance Ratify Strong Union Contract
Cary Public Works Maintenance workers have voted unanimously to ratify their best union contract yet.
Workers won reduced pay steps that will make them more competitive with other municipalities, a 14.5% pay increase over four years, longevity pay, an additional personal day, guaranteed quarantine pay in addition to their sick time, and a higher uniform allowance. Some workers will see a 25% raise over the life of the contract.
“We are very pleased with the new contract. We are finally competitive with other Villages,” said Mike Spencer, Maintenance and Utility Worker II.
“We are taking this Village in the right direction. Now workers can establish a career at Cary and stay for the long haul,” said James Locklear, Maintenance and Utility Worker II and union steward.
