UIUC Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign (UIUC) Workers have reached a tentative agreement on a new three-year contract. SEIU Local 73 represents 763 Food Service and Building Service Workers and has been in contract negotiations for seven months.

“The determination of our bargaining team combined with the collective action of our members has led to this agreement,” said Joseph Richert, SEIU Local 73 Secretary-Treasurer. “Our members were fully prepared to strike for fair wages. We are pleased that University management finally took these negotiations seriously and offered a fair contract for these essential workers.”

Members will be voting on the new contract between August 24-28. Vote results and contract details will be released after voting has concluded.

The current contracts end on August 31.
