Arbitration Victory!
Liz Pena had served her community for 25 years, working at the school her own children had attended. When she was suddenly terminated for alleged mistreatment of a student, Liz was devastated. This school and neighborhood meant everything to her.
Refusing to let an unjust accusation end her career, Liz took her case to arbitration with the support of our union. The process was tough, but Liz stood firm.
In the end, Liz was reinstated and able to keep her retirement and seniority. She’s proud to continue serving her community, stronger and more resilient than ever.
These last two years were tough. While I waited for my case to be settled, I had to take on three different jobs just to support my daughter through school—cleaning houses, cutting grass, you name it. It was a long road, but it was worth every bit of struggle because now my name is cleared, and I can get back to what I love most: working with students. My advice? Never give up. Fight for your rights, because our union will always have your back.
