We have some thrilling news to share! SEIU 73 has officially filed a petition with the Illinois Labor Relations Board to represent the hardworking Chicago Board of Election workers. This is a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to ensure fair representation and better working conditions for all.

With 85 dedicated workers on the board, we have already secured an incredible 70% support cards, showcasing the overwhelming desire for union representation. This achievement is a testament to the unity and determination of the election workers!

This is just the beginning of what we believe will be a series of well-deserved victories for the Chicago Board of Election workers. We are committed to continuing our efforts to ensure that every worker receives the representation and benefits they deserve.

Geneva Morris, who has been actively involved in outreach and training, shared a heartfelt message about the importance of joining the union:

“It was very important to me that we join the union because when I looked back over the years of my career I felt like I wasn’t able to take vacations or go to dinner with friends because I was living paycheck to paycheck, and when I started crunching numbers for retirement, I realized I didn’t have enough in my pension fund. My advice to workers thinking about joining our union: do it today! When you start a job, unionize right away. Go ahead and take care of yourself first.”
