Big Gains in Bedford Park Public Works Contract
Village of Bedford Park Public Works members secured big gains in their new union contract. Maintenance, water operators, and custodian will all receive 17% in wage increases over the next five years. Members also won contract language which moves workers from Tier 2 to Tier 1 after six years of service, resulting in significant pay raises for many members.
“I’m proud of the contract we fought for and won,” said Marcin Michalek, Chief Steward.
“The Public Works members Local 73 represents keep the village clean and safe for its residents and visitors,” said Joe Richert, Local 73 Secretary-Treasurer. “Their service is a large part of the reason the Chicago Southland Convention and Visitor’s Bureau named the Village of Bedford Park Municipal Leader of the Year.”
