City of Elgin Maintenance and Custodians Secure Groundbreaking Contract

The City of Elgin Permanent Part-Time Maintenance and Custodians unanimously ratified their new contract which includes wage increases with a market adjustment, a new paid holiday, an extra personal day, and a bilingual stipend for crew leaders. 

“Even after the City of Elgin referred to our proposals as groundbreaking, after five sessions both parties came to an agreement,” said Jose Vargas, Chief Steward. “Thanks to the negotiation team of Omar Dominguez, Jose Aguilar, and our SEIU Local 73 Representative Eduardo Victoria, we finally got a deal that benefited everyone. I think we are headed in the right direction.”
