Prospect Heights Custodians Secure Higher Wages and Overtime in New Contract
The custodians at Prospect Heights School District #23 secured a new contract that provides higher wages and better benefits. The contract includes across the board wage increases and members successfully fought against management’s attempts to pigeonhole workers into a longevity category which would have reduces their pay raises.
Additionally, the new contract provides that all paid time off will count towards the threshold for overtime wages. Previously, utilizing sick leave reset your overtime clock.
“This contractual change will make a significant difference in ensuring workers receive the overtime wages they are due,” said Joe Richert, SEIU Local 73 Secretary-Treasurer.
