Cook County Members Ratify Tentative Agreement, See Wage and Parental Leave Increases
We are proud to announce that the vote to ratify the tentative agreement for wage increases and a contract extension at Cook County has passed overwhelmingly with 99.5% approval. SEIU Local 73 members from all over the County gathered last week to cast their ballots, and the outcome was a significant win for our movement. With the Tentative Agreement now ratified, members can expect the following:
- One-year extension of our contracts to November 30, 2025.
- 3.5% increase, effective the first full pay period on or after December 1, 2021. This retroactive increase is on top of the current negotiated increases.
- 5% increase, effective the first full pay period on or after June 1, 2025.
- Twelve (12) Week Paid Parental Leave (Details in the TA)
Here is an updated summary that reflects the negotiated increases in the current contract with the newly-ratified contract extension:
- 6/1/21 – 1.5% across-the-board increase, $3,000 bonus
- 12/1/21 – retroactive 3.5% across-the-board increase
- 6/1/22 – 2.5% across-the-board increase
- 12/1/22 – $1,000 bonus
- 6/1/23 – 2.5% across-the-board increase
- Please note that the 2.5% increase for June 1, 2023, should be reflected on the most recent paycheck.
- 6/1/24 – 2% across-the-board increase
- 6/1/25 – 5% across-the-board increase
“The fight for pay and benefits that reflects the hard work our Cook County members do continues, but we are proud to see meaningful changes that positively impact the day-to-day lives of workers,” said Local 73 President Dian Palmer.
