New Contract Provides Major Increases for Springfield Mass Transit Workers

The new contract for Springfield Mass Transit Workers provides some major wage and benefit increases.

Included are five new holidays; six additional sick days; significant wage increases for all workers, including major changes and increases to longevity pay; added shift differential; added employer paid life insurance; a major increase to the passenger per hour bonus; a major increase to the attendance bonus; and a $500 signing bonus.

“These workers are on the front line of public transportation in our State Capitol and deserve the recognition and wages they won in this contract,” said Joe Richert, Local 73 Secretary-Treasurer.
