Edgar Jones, Steward
Maintenance workers at the East St. Louis Housing Authority are celebrating the ratification of their new contract.
Under the new contract, workers will receive a $0.50 per hour increase for year one and a wage reopener in years two and three, an increase in their shoe allowance, and an increase in the emergency on-call rate.
“Being one of the voices for the union is a great opportunity for us to make sure that we can help the fellow workers through negotiations time,” said Edgar Jones, Maintenance Mechanic III and Steward.
Additionally, workers won a new annual $1,200 specialty certification and license bonus. The contract also includes language about trainings as well as pay when working above their title.
