Local 73 Reaches Agreement with Philip Rock Center

Social service workers at Philip Rock Center have a new collective bargaining agreement with management.
The new agreement gives workers an 5% pay increase, a $15/hr beginning rate for new hires, weekend differentials, and more transparency about trading shifts. Members also won new language in their contract that clears up contradictory language in their previous agreements.

“The new contract protects us because even though we are a residential home, we have issues just like other worksites. It protects people who have been treated unfairly. When new changes happen with management, the contract protects our experience. It’s a practice of being fair. If we did not have a union, then we couldn’t stand up for ourselves,” said Sherice Powell – Wooders, Steward at Philip Rock.
