SEIU Local 73 Endorses Monica Gordon for Cook County Commissioner
SEIU Local 73, representing nearly 22,500 workers that live in Cook County, has endorsed Democrat Monica Gordon for Cook County Commissioner in the fifth district.
“We are proud to endorse Monica Gordon for Cook County Commissioner. Monica has the leadership and experience needed to champion the needs of working families across the County,” said SEIU Local 73 President Dian Palmer. “The 2022 election will be very important for our members, and we are standing with candidates who have the vision and integrity to advocate for labor rights and equality for all residents of Cook County.”
“I am delighted to receive Local 73’s endorsement. Union workers all across Cook County are some of the hardest working people. I know this because union workers kept Cook County running throughout the pandemic. I was also raised in a union household where my mother – a UAW worker – taught me the value of an honest job and the importance of strong union protections. Just as I am committed to my mother, I am committed to fighting and protecting these heroes once elected commissioner of the fifth district,” said Gordon.
Local 73’s endorsement enables Gordon to tap into a network of thousands of volunteers, activists and organizational groups which will enhance her grassroots support and target key parts of the County.
