Black History Month is a time to reflect on the Black community’s contributions to American history and honor the generations of Black Americans who have broken the barriers of racial inequality. Since 1976, Americans have observed Black History Month and celebrated the achievements of Black leaders, scholars, activists, labor, scientists, and more.

As a union that is driven by equity and democracy, we are committed to fighting against anti-Black racism and structural racism of any kind. Educating our members and communities is a critical first step towards ending racial discrimination. In February, Local 73 will take a deep dive into Black History on our social media by highlighting prominent figures. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter to learn more about Black leaders who have shaped the future of our nation.
