Lake Ridge Schools Food Service Workers Fight for and Win Back Pay

The Food service workers under Chartwells Dining Services for Lake Ridge School Corporation in Gary, Indiana, fought for and won $2,000 worth of back pay in their new contract. A close examination of payroll by Local 73 uncovered that workers were not being paid on the correct wage scale.

The new contract includes a wage increase of $1.00 per hour for all workers. It also includes language guaranteeing increased wages for temporary work or promotions in higher classifications.
