Carthage Elementary District Ratifies New Contract
On Wednesday, November 24, Carthage Elementary District members gathered to ratify a new contract. The members bargained $1 an hour increase, retroactive to July 1, 2021. But that wasn’t the only win. In addition, they’ll get $1.20/hour wage increases over the entirety of the three-year contract, got insurance costs paid to match current rates for other unions that saves workers $80/month, and a Me-Too Clause for those economic increases in the future.
Other Wins:
- 12-month employees added Juneteenth to the holidays
- 9-month employees gain two days in paid vacation after five years of service and paid Christmas holiday after five years (previously, they had no benefits of this kind)
- Language clean-up and clarification of their contract
The bargaining team was led by Steward Matt Ritter, Steward Jodi Burling, and team member David Ufkes with the support of union members at Carthage.
