“Asian Americans”, a new series and key demographic in today’s union
With a president that has nicknamed the coronavirus “Chinese virus,” and other leaders scapegoating immigrants–especially Asian Americans – in an attempt to divide us, many Asian Americans are living with an additional burden of fear and stress in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. Unfortunately, this is not the first time in U.S. history that this has happened.

The series, premiering Monday May 11 and Tuesday, May 12, comes at a time when the fastest growing population in the United States is facing rising discrimination and violence. However, with a large number of Asian American women on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, working in healthcare, and an increase in union membership in recent years, Asian Americans are playing a critical role in winning health care, good jobs, a safe environment, immigration reform, and an economy that works for all.
