Take Action at UIC on May 1!
On May 1, workers at UIC took action to deliver a strong message to university management: stop treating us like second class citizens and accept our proposals that would give us a fair annual wage increase!
We hoped bringing a federal mediator into negotiations would create progress, but it ended up with the same result for the Service and Maintenance and Clerical bargaining units on April 19: management refuses to accept proposals that would provide the same fair wage increase that our brothers and sisters in Champaign-Urbana received.
It is unfair and immoral that management refuses to treat us at UIC, a predominately minority workforce with a higher cost of living, equal to workers in Champaign-Urbana, a predominately Caucasian workforce. We want equal treatment and will accept nothing less!
