Custodial and Maintenance Staff at Winnetka District #36 Win Substantial Contract Gains
Custodial and maintenance staff at Winnetka District #36 overwhelmingly ratified their new contract and with it came substantial gains.
“The one token I am proud of from our contract is the clothing allowance and the consistent high raises for the next five years. These are gains our members have never seen in the past,” said Jesus Medina, Chief Steward and maintenance staff member.
The five-year deal comes with a 22.5% wage increase over the life of the contract. Other gains include the addition of Juneteenth as a paid holiday, and a $150 yearly uniform allowance.
Jesus added, “In the short time I have been in Winnetka, I have felt the trust and confidence our members have in me as their Chief Steward. With them in mind, I spoke up and negotiated what is one of the best contracts in the last decade of our school district.”
