Regional Mental Health Center Approves New Contract

The workers at Regional Mental Health Center in Northwest Indiana overwhelmingly voted to approve their contract.

In addition, holidays and other leave have been expanded including Juneteenth as an observed holiday and extended immediate and non-immediate family coverage for funeral leave.

“Solidarity succeeded and together we triumphed,” said bargaining team member Trina Hogan.

Also included in the contract is new language allowing workers who have a grievance regarding an incorrect payment or calculation of wage or salary, to file a grievance at Step 1 within ten (10) business days of the date they have actual knowledge of the issue. Regional will consider all wages or salaries to be paid to the employee for the previous 2 years from the date the bargaining unit employee files the salary grievance.

“I’m proud of the teamwork that secured this contract,” said Steward Erin Findley-Sykes. “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
