Waukegan Park District Workers Win Significant Raises for Full and Part-Time Workers

Waukegan PW

The newest contract overwhelmingly ratified by Waukegan Park District Workers contains significant raises for both full and part-time workers.

Over the course of the four-year contract, workers will receive at least a 3% raise each year. In year two, any full-time worker earning less than $20/hour will get the best of either a 3.5% raise or be brought up to a minimum of $20/hour, whichever is greater. Workers also won an increase in longevity bonuses by $250 and overtime pay for part-time employees.

“We are satisfied to have made the gains we did and get all the new protections heading into uncertain times,” said Edgar Rios, Aquatic Maintenance Worker.

The new contract also includes a “me too” clause ensuring any wage or benefit improvements for non-union staff, including management, will go to our members.
