Our members’ clear vision for a powerful, member-driven and representative organization resulted in our local’s new governance structure and election processes based on recommendations from the Committee on the Future. Every member has a voice, opportunities to speak out and a responsibility to participate. To achieve our goals at our workplaces, across our state and nationwide, we need all members engaged, voting and working together.
Because a free, fair and inclusive election of union representatives is a critical step in achieving our vision, an Elections Committee was appointed in July 2018. Working independently, the committee determined the nomination process, elections rules and will oversee all details of the election of officers and members of the Executive Board this fall as required by the Constitution and Bylaws of SEIU Local 73 .
The initial election will be held for nine executive officers elected at large and for 31 members of the Executive Board elected by region.
Positions up for election for three-year terms this fall:
President (full time, elected at large)
Secretary-Treasurer (full time, elected at large)
Two Executive Vice Presidents (full time, elected at large)
Five Vice Presidents (rank-and-file, elected at large)
Thirty-one Executive Board Members (rank-and-file, elected by region)
The nominations period runs August 21 through September 14, 2018, followed by a secret mail ballot election in October. See Elections Notice and Forms for the Notice of Election mailed August 21, 2018, to workers represented by the local as well as other election-related documents and forms.
