4/22: Earth Day – Prime Time Live Stream
Wednesday, April 22, is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. While we may not be able to physically gather in the streets this year, that doesn’t mean we can’t take powerful, collective action online.
The Coronavirus has laid bare the brutality and injustice of our current system. That’s why we are leaning into healing and togetherness to provide comfort and inspiration during this time of anxiety and the unknown.
From April 22 to 24, young people and adults will come together for a three-day online event focused on climate action called Earth Day Live. Earth Day Live will be a 72-hour live stream and online mobilization to engage people across the world in collective action to protect their climate and their communities. The live stream will include training sessions, performances, and appearances from a variety of speakers featuring celebrities, elected officials, scientists, thought leaders, and youth activists.
Included will be activists, performers and thought leaders who will come together for an empowering and inspiring event. Prime time tomorrow will be from 6pm to 8pm EST/ 3pm to 5pm PST.
Starting at 6:35pm EST we will be hearing from Mary Kay along with SEIU member leaders followed by a clap for healthcare workers,an interview with SEIU nurses and then onto an exciting Green New Deal panel with Naomi Klein, Varshini Prakash of the Sunrise Movement and our own Lenore Friedlaender of SEIU 32BJ.
