Upcoming Park District Ratification Meetings

Contract ratification is underway at the Chicago Park District!  Your union negotiating committee unanimously recommended that union members vote YES to ratify the contract.  Your voice and vote matter—this contract will not go into effect until the members vote to approve it.

We are running meetings and votes in each of the 18 areas and we will run additional meetings in the evenings.  Here is the full schedule of the remaining ratification meetings.

Come out to any contract ratification meeting convenient for you.

We won this contract victory because our members participated by voting to strike, wearing buttons, coming to meetings and negotiations, talking with community members, and in a hundred different other ways.  It was because of what all of us did that we won.

We made meaningful progress toward our goals in this campaign:

  • Better raises for every worker, every year
  • Lifting the lowest paid rec leaders and hourly workers
  • Winning vacation and holiday pay for hourly workers
  • Improved seniority, transfers, promotions and ‘acting up’
  • Addressed inequities in the supervisor pay structure
  • Improved representation in the grievance procedure

We will have more details for people to review at the meetings.

Most importantly, we built a stronger union with hundreds of new leaders and activists to lead us forward in the parks for years to come.
