Negotiations Begin at UIC

NEGOTIATIONS BEGIN!

On Wednesday, July 3, the SEIU Local 73 UIC Bargaining Committee met with UIC management to put forth our first proposals for stronger contracts. Management was welcomed by dozens of workers demanding to bargain for all members in the hallways as they entered.

For years, UIC has treated all of us on campus, at the hospital, in Peoria, Rockford, Champaign, and DSCC unfairly. They overwork us, undepay us, and treat us like second class citizens. Our proposals fight back against management’s years of mistreatment.

Your bargaining committee made it loud and clear what our proposals are about:

  • Dignity and respect
  • Equity
  • Democracy
  • Work-life balance
  • Immigration

Management had nothing. They had no proposals ready for bargaining.

We are ready to fight. Join us at the next session on Wednesday, July 17 at the Student Center East’s White Oak Room from 9am-1pm.

You can sit in on negotiations during your breaks, lunch or before or after work. We are stronger together.
