This Is Our Time – CPS Workers Vote YES TODAY! Es nuestro tiempo – Trabajadores de CPS Voten SI hoy!
Attention all SEIU Local 73 CPS employees: The time is now to say enough is enough. Voting is now happening at CPS schools across the city to authorize our bargaining committee to call for a strike later this year if CPS will not settle a fair contract. Members can also vote in person at the Local 73 office, Monday through Friday, between 9am and 5pm.
Here’s why we are counting on you to vote YES:
Enough is enough — SEIU CPS members have worked tirelessly to keep our city’s schools running smoothly but we have yet to see our city invest in us. We have called for raises and we have called for dignity and respect on the job. We have gone nearly a year without a contract meanwhile our city council is quick to hand out billions in TIF money to the rich. This is not fair to us and it is not fair to the students and families we serve everyday.
We are worth more — Management’s negotiators have not put forward a proposal with ANY wage increases. Poverty pay is not OK in Chicago. They are also not responding to our proposals to keep schools safe, clean and equipped to support special education students. Our students and their families deserve better.
It is time for us to be seen and to be heard — We are voting YES to authorize the committee to call for a strike if CPS does not get serious and settle a fair contract. We are voting YES because Poverty Pay for CPS workers is not OK in the city of Chicago. We are voting YES because ALL CPS WORKERS DESERVE BETTER. CPS Workers Stand United For a Fair Contract!
Ya es suficiente — Los miembros de SEIU CPS han trabajado incansablemente para que las escuelas de nuestra ciudad funcionen sin problemas, pero aún no hemos visto cómo nuestra ciudad invierte en nosotros. Hemos pedido aumentos y hemos pedido dignidad y respeto en el trabajo. Hemos transcurrido casi un año sin contrato, mientras que nuestro consejo municipal está dispuesto a entregar miles de millones en dinero de TIF a los ricos. Esto no es justo para nosotros y no es justo para los estudiantes y las familias que atendemos todos los días.
Valemos más — Los negociadores de la Administración no han presentado una propuesta con CUALQUIER aumento salarial. El pago de la pobreza no está bien en Chicago. Tampoco están respondiendo a nuestras propuestas para mantener a las escuelas seguras, limpias y equipadas para apoyar a los estudiantes de educación especial. Nuestros estudiantes y sus familias merecen algo mejor.
Es hora de que nos vean y nos escuchen — Votamos SÍ para autorizar al comité a convocar una huelga si CPS no se toma en serio y resuelve un contrato justo. Estamos votando SÍ porque la Pobreza Paga para los trabajadores de CPS no está bien en la ciudad de Chicago. Estamos votando SÍ porque TODOS LOS TRABAJADORES DE CPS MERECEN MEJOR. ¡Los trabajadores de CPS se mantienen unidos por un contrato justo!
