During the March Primary, the Political Engagement Committee endorsed 33 races. SEIU Local 73 endorsed candidates won in 30 of those 33 races. SEIU Local 73 reshaped the Cook County Board by working to elect labor-friendly Democrats Brandon Johnson and Bridget Degnan to the Cook County Board; defeating incumbent Democratic County Commissioners Richard Boykin and John Fritchey in the process.

SEIU LOCAL 73 MEMBERS KNOCKED ON OVER 10,000 DOORS IN FEBRUARY & MARCH 2018 TO ACHIEVE VICTORIES FOR ENDORSED CANDIDATES.

Now, we face Governor Rauner who will spend over $100 million to win this election! J.B. Pritzker, the SEIU endorsed Gubernatorial candidate, will spend an equal amount, if not more money, on this election.

With that much money being spent by the Gubernatorial candidates, how do we get a message to other SEIU members, our neighbors, friends and other voters that it’s their votes that matter? We will do it the best way we know how – face to face, member to member, and door to door.

25% of SEIU Local 73 members are not registered to vote. Are you registered? Did you move in the past year or change your last name? Are your children registered (they can register now if they will be 18 on Election Day)?

2/3rds of SEIU Local 73 members did not vote in 2014. That means 20,000 SEIU Local 73 members chose not to vote. Governor Rauner won with 50.3% of the vote. SEIU Local 73 members are 15% of Bruce Rauner’s 2014 margin of victory. It’s our job to vote! When we don’t vote, people who would do harm to ourselves, our families, and our communities are elected. Have you pledged to vote this year? Do you know who SEIU Local 73 members endorsed?
