On Tuesday morning, we delivered a message to the city they heard loud and clear. With our sisters and brothers from SEIU Local 1, HCII, IBEW Local 21, AFSCME Council 31, Fight For $15, Alderman George Cardenas and many more supporters, we marched in and around city hall to demand equal treatment.
We know the city heard us because now we have a new offer.
Come to a Unit II membership meeting Monday to discuss the city’s latest proposal and bring your coworkers.
By coming together, we’ve pushed the city from saying there was no deal, then offering us less than the other people who work hard for Chicago, and now their first step toward doing what’s right for us and our families. The city is offering a 1% raise retroactive to July 1, 2016, another 1% raise on January 1, 2017, and a one-time 1% bonus on January 1, 2017, too.
Unit II Membership Meetings
Monday, September 26
10 – 11 a.m.
3 – 4 p.m.
6 – 7 p.m.
300 S. Ashland Ave.
Beyond the proposed wage increase, we’ll also talk about how we can give the city we love the best service. Our aviation security officers need to be armed on the job so they can stop terrorists instead of running and hiding as they’re told today. Crossing guards must return to the Chicago Police Department to keep our children safe. And these are just two examples of the issues we’ll be taking on together moving forward.
We are the new Local 73. We are fighters who come together and win for ourselves, our families, and our communities. See you on Monday!
