Building Service Workers and Food Service Workers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are fed up and won’t take it anymore!
A strike notice was issued Monday, February 25 to University management after 91% of members voted to authorized the strike notice last month. This 14-day notice gives both bargaining units the ability to begin a strike anytime after March 10.
Elected bargaining committees have decided on this action as a last resort because they feel it is necessary. Hopefully we will be able to reach agreement before the strike happens, but we are prepared to take that step if necessary.
